Job Summary

Savannah State University (SSU), College of Engineering Technology and Computing, invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor of Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) beginning in Spring/Fall 2027. The college's mission focuses primarily on teaching, scholarship through applied research, and industry/professional engagement. The incumbent must effectively teach 12 hours of undergraduate Electrical Engineering Technology courses per semester from an approved curriculum, with an assigned schedule. This includes curriculum development to move the program to the next level, mentoring, and advising Electrical Engineering Technology students. The incumbent must develop externally funded research/education programs with publishable results, participate in SSU recruitment and retention initiatives and work closely with students inside and outside of class. The Assistant Professor must maintain required office hours to provide assistance to students individually and in small groups. The incumbent is expected to collaborate with other faculty and industry professionals to ensure that the curriculum reflects current standards and industry needs.

Responsibilities
  • Plans, organizes, teaches classes, and incorporates teaching strategies that foster student learning, success, and retention
  • Maintains current instruction and discipline-specific knowledge through professional development, seminars, and conferences
  • Advises students in matters related to academics, attendance, and behavior
  • Collaborate with other faculties and industry to ensure that the curriculum reflects current standards and industry needs
  • Work towards developing a research program with publishable results
  • Development of externally funded research/education program


Required Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and a PhD degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • Must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to provide outstanding classroom and laboratory instructions
  • Must be able to teach courses in Cybersecurity and embedded systems, Network defense & counter measures


Preferred Qualifications
  • Skills in Robotics & Autonomous Systems and Electric Energy Systems etc.
  • One or two years of teaching experience from an ABET accredited institution


Proposed Salary

The proposed salary range for this position is $75,000.00 to $80,000.00 annually.

  • Skills in oral and written communication for academic and professional settings.
  • Ability to mentor and advise students on academic and career goals.
  • Ability to integrate real-world applications and case studies into instruction.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and community partners.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to all learning styles.
  • Ability to maintain professional ethics and confidentiality.
