Within this setting, the Manufacturing Engineering Program at Georgia Southern University prepares students for successful careers in advanced manufacturing, emphasizing the University Values of collaboration, academic excellence, discovery and innovation, integrity, inclusion, and sustainability in manufacturing engineering endeavors. The program supports the University Mission of learner-centered engagement to foster a broad and diverse academic environment for promoting experiential learning, applied research, and regional economic development for a rapidly growing manufacturing industrial base. The Manufacturing Engineering Program continues to be a key contributor to the future of manufacturing for the region, state, and nation in which students engage with faculty in impactful research for manufacturing advancement to drive competitiveness, resiliency, and national security.

Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering,
Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering,
PhD in Applied Engineering with concentration in Manufacturing Engineering
Job Summary
Reporting to the Department Chair of Manufacturing Engineering, the Assistant/Associate Professor of Manufacturing Engineering requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, graduate and undergraduate advisement, actively engaged funded research, and service responsibilities including outreach to the community. The position is an academic (10 month), tenure-track appointment.
Required Qualifications
Earned PhD in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a closely related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, by August 1, 2025.
Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives.
Commitment to engaging with best practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curriculum design and development.
Expertise in the area of advanced manufacturing.
Demonstrated commitment to advancing a strong and growing research and scholarship agenda and the production of research/creative activities as appropriate to the discipline.
Minimum of 5 years full-time college/university teaching experience at the Assistant Professor level is required for the rank of Associate Professor along with a strong record of research and service with publications and presentations in professional venues.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in robotics and automation and expertise in manufacturing automation for cleanroom operations are preferred; however, additional areas of advanced manufacturing will be considered.
Industry experience is preferred with experience in a cleanroom environment.
A strong and sustained nationally recognized record of funded research and substantial publications in the field of expertise.
Proposed Salary
Commensurate with experience.
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

Conditions of Employment
